Totimpfstoff
Ein Totimpfstoff ist ein Vakzin, das nicht mehr replikatonsfähige (tote) Krankheitserreger oder Bestandteile davon enthält. Totimpfstoffe lösen eine schwächere Immunantwort aus als Lebendimpfstoffe. Dadurch werden mehr Impfdosen benötigt und Auffrischungsimpfungen sind öfter notwendig.
Es gibt fünf verschiedene Totimpfstoffarten:
- Konjugatimpfstoffe
- Spaltimpfstoffe
- Subunit-Impfstoffe
- Toxoidimpfstoffe
- Vollimpfstoffe
